Oregon Governor Tina Kotek’s $4.3 billion gas tax went down in flames.

The Measure failed by big margins — 80% by results posted at 8pm 5/19.

This is a historic moment.

A quarter million signatures were collected in under 40 days on the gas tax referendum to give voters a say.   This was historic.  First and foremost, this was a genuine people power moment and we the referendum campaign (chief petitioners Senator Bruce StarrRep. Ed DiehlJason Williams of Taxpayers Association) extend a massive thank you to everyone who helped.  We saw you gather signatures in the rain.   We saw you walk your neighborhood.  One bedridden man called the Taxpayers Association and said he found the will and power to walk every door in his nursing home to collect signatures.

Having Senator Brice Starr and Representative Ed Diehl as chief petitioners sent a powerful message of unity among the House and Senate. Representative Ed Diehl and his genius team of Jodie Fleck (left) and Nick Stark of Oregon Freedom Coalition helped to build a statewide grassroots mobilization system that worked miracles in gathering signatures.

John Swanson was our PAC team leader, he is running this very night for Polk County Commissioner.

Shout out to Lars Larson.  He is our Joe Rogan and Rush Limbaugh in one.  His voice was a huge boost to everything we did.

This is a huge victory for Oregon taxpayers.
