SALEM – A fifth generation Oregonian, Gen Z conservative and follower of Christ, Tanner Elliott has announced his candidacy for Chairman of the Young Republicans of Oregon (YRO). Elliott was raised in the beautiful Eastern Oregon City of John Day, where his 3rd great-grandfather was one of the original pioneers of Grant County. Growing up with rural conservative values has given Elliott the ambition, fresh perspective, and experience the YRO needs in this position.
Elliott has an extensive history in political activism. His service includes:
- Grant County Precinct Committee Person (2018-2020)
- Member of the Grant County Planning Commission (2017-2019)
- Member of the Grant County 4-H Advisory Council (2018-2020)
- Intern for US Senator Steve Daines (Fall of 2021)
- Seven Campaigns ranging from local, state, and federal (2018-Present)
- Dorchester Conference Board Member (2022-Present)
- Chief of Staff in the Oregon State Legislature (2023-Present)
Elliott provides new leadership for a new era in this organization. Under his leadership, Elliott wants the YRO to play a bigger role in the upcoming 2026 elections. He plans on achieving this by focusing on the fundamentals, recruiting members, training volunteers, and fundraising.
