Here’s more from Oregon Republican leaders on Trump’s EO:

Senator Daniel Bonham Attends Signing of President Trump’s Executive Order Protecting Women’s Sports

SALEM, Ore. – Today, on National Girls and Women in Sports Day, Senator Daniel Bonham (R-The Dalles) attended the signing of President Donald J. Trump’s executive order protecting the integrity of women’s sports. The order ensures that women’s athletics remain exclusively for biological women by aligning federal policy with Title IX, the landmark law designed to protect women’s educational and athletic opportunities.

“For too long, female athletes have been forced to compete on an uneven playing field. Today’s executive order restores fairness and upholds the fundamental principle of equal opportunity in women’s sports,” said Bonham. “Oregon girls deserve the chance to compete, break records, and win championships without biological males taking their opportunities away.”

To ensure that Oregon protects fairness in women’s sports, Senator Bonham has introduced Senate Bill 618, which requires school districts to designate athletic competitions and extracurricular sports based on biological sex. This legislation will compel OSAA to reverse its unfair ‘gender identity participation’ rule and restore competitive fairness in girls’ athletics.

“80% of Americans agree—women’s sports should be for women,” Bonham added. “This executive order is a huge step forward, and Oregon leaders ought to follow suit to ensure our girls are protected.”

Drazan Introduces Legislation To Protect Women’s Sports On National Girls And Women In Sports Day

SALEM, Ore. – Today, on National Girls and Women in Sports Day, House Republican Leader Christine Drazan (R-Canby) introduced legislation to restore safety and fairness for female athletes in Oregon in K-12 schools. LC 3895 requires schools to designate athletic competitions and extracurricular sports according to biological sex. The legislative concept prohibits biological males from participating in athletic competitions or extracurricular sports designated for biological females.

“Women have fought for—and earned—respect and support for themselves in sports and have made incredible gains in doing so. We must defend that progress and stand up for fairness.” said Rep. Drazan. “We can respect the dignity of every individual without endangering women in sports,” Drazan added.

A statewide poll commissioned by House Republicans revealed that 69% of Oregonians oppose OSAA’s current policy allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports.

President Trump signed an executive order today titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which bans biological males from competing against women in women’s sports by aligning federal policy with Title IX—a law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex for schools that receive federal funding.

“I want to thank President Trump for taking executive action to protect women’s rights and fair competition in women’s sports. I urge our state to take similar action to protect women and comply with Title IX,” Drazan concluded.

Drazan’s bill will be introduced later this week and will include sponsors from both the House and Senate. The statewide poll was conducted by Public Opinion Strategies between January 4–7th of this year, and surveyed 500 registered Oregon voters with ±4.38% margin of error.

Rep. Boshart Davis Applauds Executive Order Protecting Women’s Sports

SALEM, OR – Oregon State Representative Shelly Boshart Davis (R, Albany) today praised President Donald Trump’s executive order titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which reinforces federal protections for female athletes under Title IX. The order mandates that schools and athletic organizations uphold single-sex sports categories based on biological sex, ensuring fairness and safety in women’s competitions.

“As a former athlete, mom to three female athletes, and former women’s athletics coach, I am proud of President Trump’s bold action to safeguard the integrity of women’s sports,” said Boshart Davis. “For decades, women fought for equal opportunities in athletics. Allowing biological males to compete in female categories undermines these hard-won rights and puts female athletes at an unfair disadvantage.”

The executive order directs federal agencies to interpret Title IX—the 1972 law prohibiting sex-based discrimination in education—as barring biological males from participating in female sports. Institutions violating these guidelines risk losing federal funding and facing legal action.

Boshart Davis emphasized the importance of biological fairness in sports: “This isn’t about exclusion—it’s about preserving opportunities for women and girls to excel on a level playing field,” she stated. “I urge Oregon and the OSAA to follow this commonsense approach.”
